Appointed by Governor Newsom to the San Diego Superior Court in 2022, Disability Rights Activist, former CEO of Disability Rights Now (now advisor), founder of the San Diego County Bar Association Different Abilities Group, and former Office Managing Partner of Cozen O’Connor’s San Diego Office. Former member of San Diego County Bar Association Committee on Diversity and Inclusion. Former chaplain VFW Post 7420 Don Diego in Barrio Logan. Bronze Star recipient for service in Iraq with the Marines and Defense Meritorious Service Award for service in Afghanistan. Pro Bono (CLAY) Award State Bar of California for work with Judy Booher, whose son was tragically killed as a firefighter. As a result of that matter, the Brett Alan Laws Act signed by the Governor of California to protect emergency personnel. Inducted into the Hall of Fame, Illinois State University-College of Applied Science and Technology-Criminal Justice Sciences. Recipient Service to Diversity Award from the San Diego County Bar Association for the formation of DAG to address the under representation of those with disabilities in the legal field. Author of over 100 published articles and Letters to the Editor on the lack of people with disabilities in the legal field. Collaborated with United States District Court Southern District of California on training program and panelist for court members, and other federal agencies on Disability Etiquette to include working with the Federal Court to be the first District to adopt a Disability Etiquette pamphlet. Programming and collaboration with San Diego Regional Center (paid internship program), USDC SD, San Diego Superior Court, USD Law School, Cal Western Law School, SDSU, Mission Bay HS and Lincoln HS. Programming with professional legal organizations NALP, SDCBA, ACS, ABOTA, and SDG&E. AV preeminent rating in Martindale-Hubbell and repeatedly named a San Diego Top Lawyer by San Diego Magazine. Bachelor’s Science Degree from Illinois State University (High Honors) and law degree from Southern Illinois University (named Outstanding Senior in Environmental Law).
